Rodney E. Johnson

Rodney Johnson has over 25 years of real estate executive experience in portfolio management, acquisitions, asset management, and project management. He has broad experience in a range of real estate investment disciplines including financial analysis and valuation of both debt and equity, acquisitions, contract negotiations, client relations, and development/construction.                                                                                                                                                                        

Mr. Johnson held various executive positions at Equitable Real Estate, one of the top commercial real estate managers and advisors for commercial real estate assets for pension funds in the U.S. He was instrumental in deploying over $2.5 billion in debt and equity capital for institutional investors including CALPERS, CalSTRS, the State of Wisconsin Investment Board, and the Alaska Permanent Fund. He also managed the competitive bid process leading to a No.1 ranking as Servicer of commercial mortgage backed securities for Equitable (EQ Services) and the Resolution Trust Corp. He also developed and managed an $800M non-performing commercial mortgage portfolio on behalf of several financial institutions during the last major commercial real estate market downturn.


Mr. Johnson served as Project Manager/Development Director for The Delta Organization in Philadelphia where he managed the redevelopment of Colonie Center Mall (Albany, NY), and served as Senior VP and Sr. Development Director for The Integral Group in Atlanta where he managed the development of Renaissance Walk located in the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic District. He also helped raise $80M of investment capital for Urban America and the Integral Urban Fund for their emerging manager private equity urban real estate investment funds. In addition, Mr. Johnson has served as Chief of Staff in Washington D.C. for Member of Congress, and Banking Committee Member, Maxine Waters. He is currently a board member of The Jemison Group, a science, technology and environmental consulting company organized by the first African-American female astronaut, Dr. Mae C. Jemison.

Mr. Johnson graduated from Stanford University with a BA in International Relations and a BA in African and African-American studies. He also graduated from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, with an MBA in Finance, concentrating in Real Estate and International Business. Mr Johnson has taught Principles and Practices of Real Estate as an Adjunct Professor in the Finance Department of the School of Business Administration at Clark Atlanta University, served as Faculty Advisor for the Real Estate Associates Program (Project REAP), is a Certified Instructor of Argus Valuation – Discounted Cash Flow, and is a graduate of the ICSC Development, Design and Construction Institute.
